Newport, NC – Residents of North Carolina are set to experience the hottest day of the week today, with temperatures soaring into the upper 80s and low 90s. The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has forecasted a hot and humid day, with slightly reduced shower and thunderstorm activity compared to Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s weather will see the development of showers and thunderstorms along the seabreeze, bringing the risk of localized flash flooding to Eastern North Carolina. High temperatures will range from 87°F in Ocracoke to 90°F in cities like Greenville, Jacksonville, and Kenansville.

The extended forecast shows that Wednesday will also be hot, with highs reaching 89°F and a 45% chance of rain. Thursday will see similar conditions, with temperatures again in the high 80s and a 55% chance of rain. The trend of hot weather and showers will continue into the weekend, with Friday expected to be cooler at 84°F but with a 65% chance of rain.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and be prepared for sudden thunderstorms and potential flash flooding. The National Weather Service recommends staying updated with local forecasts and taking necessary precautions to ensure safety.

With the weekend approaching, temperatures will drop slightly, with highs in the low 80s and continued rain chances. Saturday and Sunday will see highs of 82°F and 84°F, respectively, with a 65% chance of rain on Saturday and 35% on Sunday.
