Flagstaff, AZ – Another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms is forecast for this afternoon, primarily impacting the area from the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains extending south and west. Residents should prepare for small hail, gusty winds, and localized heavy rainfall accompanying the stronger storms.

According to the US National Weather Service Flagstaff Arizona, drier air has moved into northeast Arizona, reducing the likelihood of storms in that region for today. However, much of central and northwest Arizona remains under a marginal risk for excessive rainfall and flash flooding.

Tuesday’s high temperatures will soar, with many areas experiencing highs over 100°F, particularly in the lower elevations. The probability of showers and thunderstorms will vary across the state, with higher chances in the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains regions.

Flash flooding is a concern, with at least a 5% chance of flash floods within 25 miles of any given point in the marginal risk area. Localized and potentially dangerous flash floods can happen rapidly with the heavier rainstorms.
