Raleigh, NC – A light freezing rain event could bring icy roads and bridges to central North Carolina early Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service in Raleigh reports that rain will spread across the region before dawn Tuesday. Forecasters predict a light glaze of ice accumulation, up to 0.05 inches, between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Impacts are likely to be felt on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.

According to the National Weather Service, areas with the highest ice accumulation probabilities include Raleigh, Durham, and Fayetteville. Motorists should exercise caution during their morning commutes, as even a thin layer of ice can cause slick conditions.

Scattered icy spots are possible, especially in regions with the darkest shading on the weather map. The highest probabilities of ice accumulation occur in central and southern parts of the state.

Residents are urged to monitor local forecasts and prepare for possible delays. Use extra care while traveling, particularly in areas prone to icing.
