Normal, IL — Illinois State University fans will soon be able to take home a piece of school spirit as the first bobblehead featuring the school’s refreshed Reggie Redbird mascot is set to be unveiled Friday, Aug. 28. The release comes just in time to celebrate the start of the new school year and College Colors Day.

According to the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, which is producing the collectible, the officially licensed bobblehead highlights the university’s updated mascot look introduced earlier this month. Each bobblehead will be individually numbered to 2,025 pieces and priced at $35 plus a flat $8 shipping charge. Orders are expected to ship in February.

Standing on a red and white base with the Illinois State Redbirds logo, the limited-edition figure features Reggie Redbird wearing a black No. 00 football jersey while holding up a No. 1 sign. The word “REDBIRDS” is displayed across the front of the base.

The updated Reggie, described by Illinois State as blending “decades of passion and pride” with a stronger and more athletic image, will make his official debut on the field at the Redbirds’ first home football game of the 2025 season against Morehead State on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Hancock Stadium.

Reggie Redbird has been a fixture at Illinois State athletic events since the early 1980s, when the Junior Redbird Club officially gave him his name. He is named after baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson, despite no connection to the school.

“This bobblehead is a must-have for Redbird supporters everywhere,” said Phil Sklar, co-founder and CEO of the Milwaukee-based National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.
