Carpentersville, IL – A structure fire caused significant damage to a home on Sunset Drive in Carpentersville on Thursday. The fire, which broke out around 11:38 a.m., resulted in an estimated $150,000 in damage. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

According to the Carpentersville Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the scene after reports of smoke in the 200 block of Sunset Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke conditions and located the fire in the living room on the first floor. Crews promptly initiated a search of the residence while working to extinguish the blaze.

The Building Department and utility companies were notified due to the extensive fire and smoke damage. A cat was safely rescued from the structure during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
