Ann Arbor, MI – Cannabis and hallucinogen use among adults remained at historic highs in 2023, according to the latest Monitoring the Future survey conducted by the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research. The survey, supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), highlighted continued high usage rates among adults aged 19 to 30 and 35 to 50.
According to the study, 42% of adults aged 19 to 30 reported using cannabis in the past year, while 9% of this age group reported using hallucinogens. The survey also noted a persistent trend of high nicotine vaping rates, particularly among younger adults. Meanwhile, cigarette use continued its decline across both age groups. The survey data was collected from April to October 2023.
