Lockport, N.Y. – High school seniors across Niagara County have just days left to secure a $500 scholarship, with applications due by April 13, creating a fast-approaching deadline for students planning their next steps after graduation.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the Victim Services Unit is accepting applications for its 2026 Scholarship Award, which requires students to submit both an application and a short essay detailing how victimization has impacted themselves or someone they know. All materials must be received by the Sheriff’s Office by that deadline.

The opportunity is open to seniors throughout Niagara County, including students in Lockport, Niagara Falls, North Tonawanda, and surrounding districts. Applications must be mailed to the Victim Services office on Niagara Street in Lockport, and late submissions will not be considered.

Officials say the scholarship will be awarded during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, observed in mid-April, highlighting the importance of advocacy and support services across the region.

Students are encouraged to act quickly, complete all required fields, and ensure essays clearly address the topic. Additional reminders or future opportunities may be announced by the Sheriff’s Office as the deadline approaches.
