Newport, NC – A mix of strong winds and scattered thunderstorms will impact Newport and surrounding coastal areas in North Carolina Monday afternoon into the night.
According to the National Weather Service, a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected after 3 p.m. Monday, with increasing cloud coverage and gusts reaching up to 33 mph. Breezy conditions from the southwest will shift westward overnight, with gusts continuing up to 16 mph into early Tuesday.
Rain amounts are expected to remain light, with most areas seeing less than one-tenth of an inch, though localized thunderstorms could bring heavier bursts. Roads may become slick during isolated downpours, and outdoor activities should be adjusted accordingly.
