Blacksburg, VA – A stretch of unsettled weather will bring scattered showers and gusty winds to Blacksburg and surrounding areas through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, a 30% chance of showers begins late Sunday night and continues into Monday. Winds will shift out of the southwest at around 7 mph overnight, with gusts reaching up to 29 mph Monday afternoon. Rainfall is expected to be light, with totals under a tenth of an inch.

The region will experience clearing skies by Tuesday afternoon, but another round of rain is possible Tuesday night with a 40% chance of precipitation. Highs will hover in the upper 50s to low 60s through Wednesday, slightly below seasonal averages for late March in southwest Virginia.

Blacksburg residents should plan for changing conditions, especially during morning and evening commutes. Wind gusts may impact high-profile vehicles on open roads and ridge lines. Light rain may cause slick surfaces, especially before sunrise.

By Thursday, skies are expected to clear with highs returning near 59°F. Sunshine continues into the weekend, offering relief from the damp start to the week.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and check Virginia 511 for updates on local road conditions.
