New York, NY – Rain will disrupt Thanksgiving holiday plans this week as a storm system moves through the area, bringing cooler temperatures. Travelers should plan ahead, especially during peak travel hours on Wednesday evening when rain will become widespread.
According to the National Weather Service, rain will start late Wednesday and continue into Thanksgiving morning. Wednesday night’s lows will dip to 41 degrees, with precipitation expected to total between a half-inch and three-quarters of an inch. Thanksgiving Day itself will be wet, with high temperatures near 48 degrees and heavy rain likely. Drivers on major roads such as the FDR Drive and I-95 should anticipate delays due to slick conditions.
Friday offers some reprieve with sunny skies and a high of 44 degrees, though the chill will set in overnight with lows plunging to 34 degrees. The cold intensifies Saturday, with highs around 39 degrees and brisk winds making it feel even colder.
Travelers returning home Sunday can expect partly sunny skies with a high near 37 degrees, but overnight temperatures will again drop below freezing. Prepare for icy spots on untreated roads early Monday morning.
Whether traveling or staying local, residents are urged to dress warmly and remain cautious on wet roads. Check the latest weather updates and avoid last-minute travel during heavy rain periods.
