Binghamton, NY – Drivers in upstate New York should prepare for dense fog and freezing overnight temperatures through Wednesday morning. Visibility could drop significantly, especially north of the Southern Tier.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Binghamton, fog will develop late Tuesday and persist until late Wednesday morning. Areas most affected include Syracuse, Utica, and Auburn. Travelers should use low-beam headlights and reduce speed.

Overnight temperatures will range from the upper 20s to mid-30s, making roads slick in some areas. Syracuse is expected to drop to 30°F, while Binghamton and Elmira will hover around 30-33°F. Northern locations like Boonville could see lows near 27°F.

Motorists should remain cautious, as fog combined with cold temperatures can create black ice. If driving in affected areas, maintain safe distances and avoid sudden stops.
