Binghamton, N.Y. – Sunshine is making a steady comeback across Central New York today, but temperatures will stay cooler than average, with highs peaking only in the low 50s for most areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, high pressure is building in from the west, clearing out early clouds and bringing dry, stable conditions. Temperatures will rise gradually through the afternoon, with cities like Utica, Cortland, and Oneonta seeing highs around 52°F to 55°F. Farther south in the Wyoming Valley, places like Wilkes-Barre and Scranton could reach the mid 60s by late afternoon.
Northwest winds are keeping things on the brisk side, pulling in cooler air that will linger into Thursday. Morning lows were especially chilly in higher elevations—Boonville dipped to the upper 30s around sunrise—and many areas won’t climb much more than 15 degrees through the day.
Drivers should be alert to localized fog and damp roads early on, but no precipitation is expected. With conditions staying dry and sunny into Thursday afternoon, it’s a good time to tackle outdoor tasks, though layering is still recommended.
The next update from NWS Binghamton is expected early Thursday, with a continued stretch of quiet weather on tap through the end of the week.
