Binghamton, NY – Wet weather moves into the Southern Tier Saturday, bringing rain, gusty winds, and the threat of snow showers early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin after 11 p.m. Friday, continuing through the weekend and into Monday along key routes like I-81. Showers will be off and on Saturday, with highs near 72°F and wind gusts up to 10 mph. Drivers should use caution—slick roads and reduced visibility are likely during commutes and weekend travel.

Saturday night brings heavier showers, mainly after 2 a.m., with chances of rain at 60%. Sunday follows with more widespread rain and temperatures dropping slightly to 68°F. A strong chance of showers continues through Sunday night.

On Monday, colder air creeps in. A high of 66°F gives way to a low near 30°F Monday night. Rain may briefly turn to snow in elevated areas before tapering off. If traveling early Tuesday, especially northbound on I-81, be prepared for slick, icy spots.

Five-Day Forecast:

  • Tuesday: Partly sunny, breezy with a high near 43°F.
  • Wednesday: Showers possible, highs near 51°F.
  • Thursday: More rain likely, with highs reaching 62°F.
