Albany, New York – A brief round of rain showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms will target communities north of I-90 this afternoon and early evening, as temperatures across the Capital Region soar into the upper 70s and low 80s.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, residents north of I-90 face a 15% to 30% chance of scattered rain showers or rumbles of thunder before drier conditions return tonight. Most of the region—including Albany, Saratoga Springs, and Schenectady—will see highs between 66° and 80° today and slightly warmer Friday, with temperatures topping out at 81° in some areas.

Travelers should watch for wet roads during brief downpours, especially in northern counties like Warren, Washington, and Fulton. Evening commutes could be slower where isolated storms develop. Overnight lows remain mild, dropping to the mid-40s and low 50s, making for comfortable sleeping conditions.

With minimal rain and unseasonably warm weather on tap, residents are encouraged to enjoy outdoor activities but stay alert for any sudden thunderstorm development. The next round of updates is expected if additional advisories are issued or storm chances increase.
