Binghamton, NY – Commuters in Central New York and Northern Pennsylvania should exercise caution Tuesday morning as patchy mixed precipitation moves through the region, potentially creating icy conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, light precipitation is spreading northward, with temperatures near freezing in some areas. As a result, slick spots may develop on untreated roads and sidewalks, particularly in Madison, Cortland, Chenango, Otsego, Tioga, Broome, and Delaware counties in New York, as well as Bradford and Susquehanna counties in Pennsylvania.

However, forecasters expect temperatures to rise by mid-morning, quickly improving conditions and reducing the risk of ice accumulation. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and remain alert for slippery patches, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Authorities recommend checking local weather updates and road conditions before heading out. While the threat of ice is expected to be short-lived, residents should remain cautious during the early morning commute.
