Buffalo, N.Y. – Chilly rain and overcast skies are locking in across Western New York through Friday, keeping temperatures well below normal just ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, off-and-on rain will persist through the end of the workweek, with highs struggling to reach the mid-50s in most areas. Elevated zones east of Lake Ontario may stay stuck in the 40s. Wind gusts from the south and southeast could reach up to 15 mph, adding to the raw feel across the region.
Rain totals of up to half an inch are expected in cities like Rochester, Lockport, and Jamestown, with slightly lower amounts closer to the Pennsylvania border. Outdoor plans may need a pause through Friday, especially in hilly areas where road surfaces may become slick. Power outages are not expected, but residents should keep umbrellas and rain gear handy.
Memorial Day weekend will bring gradual improvement, with Monday shaping up to be the driest and warmest day for cookouts and travel. Residents are advised to stay weather-aware and monitor local updates, as more advisories may be issued if rainfall increases.
