Buffalo, NY – Dry and summer-like conditions will persist in western New York through Wednesday, but wildfire smoke from Canada is making its way into the region tonight. The smoke, while mainly aloft, may tint the sun and moon with a reddish-orange hue, particularly through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, no Air Quality Health Advisories are currently in effect for Buffalo or surrounding areas. The smoke concentration near the surface will be low, meaning air quality should remain mostly unaffected. However, residents may notice the smoky haze in the sky as it drifts overhead.

For travelers and outdoor enthusiasts, the smoke’s impact on visibility could affect conditions on the roads, especially during the early morning and evening hours. Drivers should remain cautious of reduced visibility, especially in rural or higher elevation areas.

The smoke is expected to remain elevated and won’t pose a significant health risk unless it becomes more concentrated. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the situation, but as of now, no further advisories are anticipated.
