Albany, N.Y. – A breezy and cooler Sunday is underway across eastern New York as scattered showers and gusty winds move in behind an upper-level disturbance.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, daytime highs on May 18 will remain well below average for much of the region, topping out in the upper 50s to low 60s across the Capital Region, Mohawk Valley, and Adirondacks. Winds could gust up to 25 mph, especially in the Hudson Valley and Berkshires, making for a blustery end to the weekend.
In cities like Albany and Glens Falls, highs will hover around 63°F, while cooler conditions are expected in Old Forge (51°F) and Herkimer (58°F). Poughkeepsie and points south may briefly reach 70°F but will still contend with breezy conditions and scattered showers throughout the afternoon.
Travelers should be cautious on slick roads during periods of light rain, especially in higher elevations. It’s a good day to keep jackets and umbrellas handy, avoid outdoor burning, and secure lightweight outdoor items.
Winds will ease slightly by Sunday night, but unsettled weather may linger into Monday with more showers possible across the region.
