Binghamton, NY – Drivers in northern Oneida County could see roads turn snow-covered before sunrise as light but steady snowfall continues through early Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Northern Oneida County until 7 a.m. EST Thursday. An additional 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected, creating slick travel conditions during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

Boonville and surrounding communities along Route 12 and secondary roadways may experience snow-covered pavement and reduced traction overnight as temperatures stay below freezing. Even light accumulation can create hazardous driving conditions, especially on untreated surfaces and bridges.

Motorists should slow down, allow extra stopping distance and remain alert for changing conditions after sunset. Officials recommend checking New York 511 for the latest road updates before heading out.

Snow tapers toward daybreak Thursday, but icy spots may linger into the morning commute as crews continue treatment operations.
