Glens Falls, New York – Drivers across the southern Adirondacks and parts of southern Vermont could hit slick bridges and untreated roads through early Saturday afternoon as light but steady snow continues to fall.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. Saturday for Hamilton and Warren counties in New York, including Glens Falls, North Creek and Long Lake, as well as Bennington and Windham counties in Vermont. An additional 2 inches of snow is possible before the system pulls away.

Even modest snowfall is creating hazardous travel, especially on elevated surfaces like the Adirondack Northway (I-87), Route 9N near Lake George and secondary mountain roads around Johnsburg and Warrensburg. In Vermont, Route 9 near Bennington and Route 30 through Windham County may see slick stretches through the late morning hours.

Temperatures hovering near freezing will allow snow to stick quickly, coating sidewalks, stairs and driveways. Officials urge drivers to slow down, increase following distance and allow extra time for travel. Keep emergency supplies in vehicles in case of delays.

Conditions should gradually improve after 1 p.m., but untreated roads may remain slippery into the evening as temperatures stay cold.
