Albany, NY – The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Wind Advisory from 11 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, warning of westerly gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph across parts of eastern New York, western Massachusetts, northwestern Connecticut, and southern Vermont.

According to the NWS, the strongest winds will develop Friday afternoon and continue into the overnight hours, especially across higher elevations and exposed areas such as the Catskills, Berkshires, and southern Green Mountains.

Communities including Albany, Poughkeepsie, Bennington, Pittsfield, Kingston, and Glens Falls could experience brief power outages as tree limbs and unsecured outdoor objects are blown around. Drivers are urged to use caution—particularly on open roads and bridges—as gusty winds may make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles.

The advisory covers dozens of counties across four states, including Greene, Ulster, Dutchess, Berkshire, Litchfield, and Bennington, where winds are expected to remain strong through early Saturday before gradually diminishing.

Residents should secure outdoor decorations and lightweight objects ahead of the strongest gusts late Friday.
