New York, NY – An Arctic blast will bring frigid temperatures, strong winds, and possible snow to New York this week, making it the coldest stretch of winter so far.
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch from Sunday night through Monday afternoon. West winds of 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, could knock down trees and power lines, causing outages. Monday’s high will struggle to reach 34°F, but wind chills will make it feel as cold as 15°F.
Tuesday remains cold but sunny, with a high near 30°F. Winds will ease, but temperatures will stay below freezing overnight. Wednesday brings another chilly day, with a high of 31°F. By Wednesday night, a weak storm system could deliver snow showers, continuing into Thursday morning.
Thursday’s high will hover around 32°F, with a 40% chance of accumulating snow. Another round of snow showers is possible Thursday night as temperatures dip into the mid-20s.
By Friday, conditions improve slightly, with sunshine and a high near 36°F, though winds will keep the air feeling colder. Residents should prepare for bitter cold, secure outdoor items, and check for travel disruptions.
