BUFFALO, NY – A mix of light snow showers and subfreezing temperatures will persist across Buffalo and surrounding areas through Thursday. Drivers should prepare for slippery road conditions, especially during the morning and evening commutes, as untreated roads and sidewalks may remain icy.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, light lake-effect snow will develop south of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie beginning Monday night, continuing in intervals through Thursday morning. While accumulations will be minor, ranging from a trace to half an inch daily, the consistent cold will keep conditions hazardous. Highs this week will remain in the low 20s, with overnight lows dropping into the teens.

Tuesday morning’s forecast calls for a slight chance of snow showers with freezing drizzle early, tapering off by late morning. Winds from the northeast at 10–15 mph will make temperatures feel even colder. The coldest day of the week is expected on Wednesday, with highs near 20 and lows near 13.

Residents are urged to exercise caution when traveling and to allow extra time for their commute. Salt crews are treating main thoroughfares, but secondary roads may still pose challenges. Areas most affected include I-190 and I-90 corridors, as well as neighborhoods near downtown Buffalo and the eastern suburbs.

Looking ahead, temperatures will gradually rise to the mid-20s by Friday, with some sunshine expected. Snow chances will linger into Saturday, with accumulations remaining light.
