Forecasts predict snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory impacts major areas, including El Paso, Las Cruces, Alamogordo, and parts of the Sacramento Mountains. The strongest snowfall is expected overnight Tuesday and again on Thursday. Gusty winds may cause downed tree branches and low visibility on key roadways such as I-10 and Highway 70.
Travelers are urged to exercise caution on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads, as slick and icy conditions will persist throughout the week. Wednesday morning and evening commutes will likely be impacted by icy surfaces and reduced visibility. For those venturing outdoors, sidewalks and driveways may also pose a slip hazard.
Daytime temperatures will remain in the high 30s to low 40s, with nighttime lows dropping below freezing. The advisory includes localized areas like Fort Bliss, Truth or Consequences, and Silver City, where conditions may worsen due to elevation.
