West Milford, NJ – A massive wildfire in Passaic County has spread to 2,000 acres, posing significant risks to nearby communities. The Jennings Creek wildfire, burning near Greenwood Lake Turnpike and East Shore Road, remains uncontained. Fire officials report that it also affects Orange County, New York.

According to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, two residential structures and eight buildings in the Long Pond Ironworks Historic District are threatened. However, no structures have been evacuated yet. East Shore Road, from Awosting Road to Greenwood Lake Turnpike, and Beech Road are closed due to the fire.

All trails in Long Pond Ironworks State Park and Tranquility Ridge are shut to ensure public safety. Fire crews, including two helicopters capable of dropping 350 gallons of water, remain on scene. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.

The next update is expected at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Authorities urge the public to avoid the area and remind drone operators to keep clear, as drones interfere with firefighting efforts.
