Trenton, NJ – A late-season chill is expected to sweep across much of New Jersey, prompting a Frost Advisory for several counties, including Trenton, Camden, and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the advisory will be in effect from midnight Thursday through 8 a.m. Friday. Temperatures are forecast to dip as low as 34 degrees, creating conditions favorable for frost formation across central, northern, and southern portions of the state.
The advisory includes Middlesex, Mercer, Western Monmouth, Salem, Gloucester, Camden, Ocean, and Atlantic counties, among others. Residents in these regions are urged to take precautions to protect sensitive plants, as frost can kill or damage unprotected vegetation.
The chill follows a recent stretch of milder weather, making the sudden drop particularly risky for gardeners and growers who may have already planted early crops or flowers.
Officials recommend covering plants with cloth or bringing them indoors if possible. Vehicle owners should also allow extra time in the morning to clear any light frost from windshields.
While the advisory is expected to expire by 8 a.m., similar temperature swings may occur again in coming weeks as spring continues to bring unpredictable conditions across New Jersey.
