Upper Freehold Township, NJ – Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying the owners of three dogs found malnourished and abandoned on a rural road in Monmouth County.

The dogs were discovered Tuesday, January 23, by troopers from the New Jersey State Police Troop “C” Hamilton Station, who responded to a call in the area of Burlington Path Road and Emleys Hill Road. The animals appeared neglected and were in visible poor health.

According to the New Jersey State Police, the dogs were immediately taken to North Star Vets for evaluation and later transferred to Popcorn Park Animal Refuge. There, they received treatment, grooming, and care before being placed into adoptive homes.

Although the dogs are now safe, investigators continue to search for the individual or individuals responsible for abandoning them. Police are urging anyone who may recognize the dogs or have knowledge about their former owners to contact the Troop “C” Hamilton Station Detective Bureau at 609-584-5000, extension 5286. Anonymous tips are welcome.

Photos released by police show the dogs in severely matted and dirty condition at the time of recovery, with a notable transformation following treatment. Investigators hope the images will help generate leads in the case.

Authorities have not disclosed whether any suspects have been identified.
