Trenton, New Jersey – Showers and scattered snow showers will return to New Jersey and Pennsylvania late this week, raising concerns for minor flooding and slower travel during peak commute hours.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation begins early Thursday and continues intermittently through Friday night. Rain will be the primary type across southern New Jersey and the I-95 corridor, while northern and elevated areas of Pennsylvania could see light snow mixing in at times.

Cities including Newark, Camden, and Cherry Hill should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during the Thursday morning and Friday evening commutes. In Pennsylvania, areas like Scranton and State College may see brief snow accumulation on grassy surfaces, though widespread impacts remain limited.

While major rivers continue to fall after earlier rain, smaller creeks and streams may rise quickly, with potential increases of 1 to 2 feet. Drivers are advised to avoid low-lying roadways prone to flooding and remain alert for changing conditions.

The unsettled pattern lingers into Friday night before drier weather begins to return this weekend.
