Philadelphia, PA – Drought conditions continue to impact the Mid-Atlantic region, with much of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware experiencing a significant rainfall deficit. According to the National Weather Service’s latest report, the area has received just 50-75% of normal precipitation over the past 180 days, excluding the dry month of September. The most affected regions, marked in light orange on the map, have seen a rainfall shortage of more than 8 inches.

While recent rainfall has offered some relief, it hasn’t been enough to eliminate the drought. If September’s dry conditions were factored in, the deficit could extend to 10-12 inches in some areas.

The NWS warns that drought conditions are improving, but significant rainfall is still needed to restore the region’s water supply. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about ongoing weather conditions and to take water conservation measures as necessary.

As the situation develops, local authorities will continue monitoring the rainfall and issuing updates as needed to mitigate the ongoing impact on agriculture, water resources, and daily life.
