Bedford, NH – A Nashua woman was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence following a significant crash at the Bedford tolls on Friday. The incident occurred around 5:07 p.m. on the F.E. Everett Turnpike’s southbound toll lanes, where State Troopers from the Troop B barracks discovered a heavily damaged Ford Ranger pickup truck in a tollbooth lane.

According to New Hampshire State Police, the initial investigation revealed that the Ford Ranger, reportedly driven by Jane Powell, 39, was traveling south when it crossed a concrete divider and struck the concrete enclosure of a tollbooth. Powell managed to exit the vehicle and was transported to Elliot Hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately, no tollbooth workers were injured in the crash.

Due to the accident, two E-ZPass lanes were closed for about 90 minutes to allow for investigation and debris removal. One E-ZPass lane remains closed pending further service. Powell was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and reckless conduct. Authorities are seeking additional information from anyone who witnessed the crash.
