ANDOVER, N.H. – A 17-year-old Andover resident died Sunday night after his truck crashed into a drainage ditch.

The incident occurred at 11:53 p.m. on Currier Road. State Troopers from the Troop D barracks responded to reports of a fully submerged vehicle with the driver inside. Emergency responders from the East Andover Fire Department arrived and removed the driver, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim as Wyatt Carleton, 17, of Andover. The vehicle, a 2010 Gray Nissan Frontier pickup, appeared to have veered off the road for reasons still under investigation.

Troopers believe Carleton was traveling westbound when the truck crossed over a culvert, slid on an ice-covered road, and flipped into the ditch. The truck came to rest on its roof, partially submerged. Investigators found signs the vehicle had drifted for several hundred feet before the crash.

The road remained closed for about three hours during the investigation. Emergency crews from the Franklin Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information or who witnessed the crash to contact Trooper Conor Davis at Conor.K.Davis@dos.nh.gov.
