Dunbarton, NH – An 18-year-old Goffstown man was arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated DUI, after being found asleep in a running vehicle blocking a highway early Saturday morning.
According to New Hampshire State Police, troopers responded at 5:19 a.m. to reports of a blue Ford F350 stopped in the middle of Stark Highway South. First responders on the scene reported that the driver was passed out behind the wheel with the truck in drive and its doors locked.
Troopers placed tire deflation devices and wheel chocks around the truck before attempting to wake the driver. After repeated attempts, officers broke the passenger-side window and made contact. Despite instructions to put the vehicle in park, the driver began moving forward, running over the tire deflation devices and stopping just short of striking a first responder’s vehicle.
The driver, identified as Nicholas Walton, was taken into custody and charged with disobeying an officer, aggravated DUI, unlawful possession/intoxication, transporting alcohol by a minor, and open container. He was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled for arraignment in Concord District Court.
State Troopers were assisted by the Dunbarton Fire Department. Authorities ask anyone with relevant information to contact Trooper Brandon Rivard at Brandon.J.Rivard@dos.nh.gov.
