Hampton, NH – A New Hampshire State Police Trooper and a Hampton Police Department officer suffered minor injuries after their cruisers collided early Friday.

According to New Hampshire State Police, the incident occurred at 12:37 a.m. as Trooper Clark Brighton of Troop A was attempting to catch a vehicle without headlights along Route 101. Officer Timothy Vaughan from Hampton Police Department simultaneously entered the intersection at Landing Road, resulting in the crash. Both officers were treated for minor injuries, and Route 101 was temporarily closed.

Preliminary investigation indicates Trooper Brighton entered the intersection on a green light, while Officer Vaughan, who was manually operating the traffic light following July 4 celebrations, entered on a red light attempting to reset the traffic light sequence. The investigation is ongoing.
