Nevada – Bright sunshine is fading fast across the Truckee Meadows, and colder air is lining up behind it. Roads that look dry this morning could turn slushy or icy by late Monday as rain changes to snow.
According to the National Weather Service in Reno, today stays sunny with a high near 55 degrees. Clouds thicken tonight, and precipitation develops before dawn Monday. Snow levels hover near 5,000 feet early, then drop as colder air settles in.
By Monday afternoon, rain mixes with snow in Reno with highs near 45 degrees. Little accumulation is expected during daylight, but conditions shift Monday night. Snow levels fall and temperatures drop to around 27 degrees, allowing light accumulation. Up to a half inch is possible overnight.
Tuesday brings steadier snow showers and breezy winds gusting near 30 mph. Highs struggle to reach 39 degrees. New snowfall between 1 and 3 inches is possible by Tuesday night, especially on grassy and elevated surfaces. Travel along I-80 and U.S. 395 could turn slick after sunset.
Lows dip to 18 degrees Tuesday night and again Wednesday night. Any melting during the day may refreeze quickly. Watch for black ice on bridges and shaded roads.
Snow chances linger into Thursday with highs in the mid-30s. Looking toward late week and the 6–10 day outlook, temperatures gradually moderate with signs of a milder pattern building toward next weekend.
