Sparks, NV – A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for northern and central Nevada, including Sparks, starting Monday afternoon from 12 PM PDT to 8 PM PDT. The National Weather Service warns of a combination of critically dry fuels, very low humidity levels, and strong winds that may result in extreme fire behavior.
According to the National Weather Service in Elko, winds from the south to southwest will reach speeds of 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. Humidity levels could drop as low as 7%, creating dangerous conditions for rapid fire spread. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor burning and stay vigilant for signs of wildfire.
Temperatures in the Sparks area are expected to reach 88 degrees on Monday, further contributing to the heightened fire risk. Authorities urge people to take precautions, such as removing flammable materials around homes and preparing for possible evacuations. If a wildfire is spotted, residents should immediately call 911 and evacuate the area.
