Hastings, NE – Snow and bitter cold continue to grip Nebraska as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday. A Cold Weather Advisory will follow, lasting from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 9 a.m. Thursday, bringing wind chills as low as 25 degrees below zero.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Hastings, snowfall will continue through Wednesday afternoon, accumulating 3 to 6 inches across portions of central and south-central Nebraska, particularly near and south of Interstate 80. Dangerous wind chills will settle in overnight, increasing the risk of frostbite on exposed skin within 30 minutes.

Drivers should expect slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially along I-80 and Highway 6. The NWS urges travelers to slow down and check conditions before heading out.

Thursday will bring some relief with partly sunny skies and a high of 24°F, but wind chills will remain well below zero in the morning. By Friday, temperatures will rise to 39°F, with a chance of rain and snow returning Friday night into Saturday.

Residents should dress warmly and limit outdoor exposure, especially during overnight hours when wind chills are most severe.
