Omaha, NE – A dense fog advisory is in effect for Omaha and surrounding areas this morning, impacting visibility and local travel conditions. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned drivers to exercise caution, particularly on major roadways, with visibility dropping below one mile in some areas. Areas of freezing fog could create slick spots, making the morning commute hazardous.
According to the NWS, the fog is expected to clear by 11 a.m., giving way to mild and mostly cloudy conditions with a high of 45 degrees. A warm trend continues into the start of the workweek, with Monday bringing sunny skies and highs near 48. Light winds will add to the calm weather.
Tuesday remains mostly cloudy with highs in the mid-40s, but a shift occurs by midweek. Wednesday will see temperatures dip significantly to a high of just 31 degrees under sunny skies. Overnight lows could fall to 18 degrees, so residents are advised to prepare for cooler conditions later in the week.
Looking ahead, temperatures rebound slightly on Thursday, with partly cloudy conditions and a daytime high near 40. Overnight lows remain chilly at 18 degrees.
Local drivers should take extra care through Sunday morning as visibility improves. Authorities recommend reducing speeds and using low-beam headlights during foggy conditions.
Residents can take advantage of the mild temperatures on Monday and Tuesday for outdoor activities before bundling up for cooler weather midweek. Stay updated on road and weather conditions through the National Weather Service for timely advisories.
