Nebraska skies are bright and calm this morning, and downtown Omaha already feels more like April than mid-February. Temperatures sit near 36 degrees at Eppley Airfield, but sunshine is wasting no time warming sidewalks and rooftops. Drivers along I-80 and I-29 are seeing clear pavement and light winds for now.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, highs surge to 66 degrees today under sunny skies. South-southwest winds increase to 9 mph this afternoon, adding a mild edge to the air. Tonight turns mostly cloudy with lows near 44 and gusts up to 20 mph.

The real February thaw arrives Monday and Tuesday. Highs climb to 68 degrees Monday and then 76 degrees Tuesday with mostly sunny skies. South winds gust up to 28 mph Tuesday, so secure loose items and expect crosswinds on elevated bridges.

Changes arrive Tuesday night. A 40 percent chance of rain develops after midnight, with lows near 47. Rain lingers into early Wednesday before sunshine returns and highs settle near 62 degrees.

Here’s the late-winter call-out: Thursday brings a sharp cool-down. A chance of snow develops before noon, then may mix with or change to rain. Highs drop to 49 degrees, and north winds gust over 25 mph. Any wet pavement could refreeze after sunset, raising flash freezing concerns.

Looking into President’s Day week and the 6–10 day outlook, above-normal temperatures dominate much of the central U.S. Spring vibes are building, but quick swings remain possible across Nebraska and Iowa.

Five Day Outlook for Omaha, Nebraska:
Today: Sunny, high 66°.
Monday: Partly sunny, high 68°.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high 76°.
Wednesday: Sunny, high 62°.
Thursday: Chance of snow then rain, high 49°.
