Omaha, Nebraska – Thunderstorms and steady rain could drench parts of eastern Nebraska on Wednesday, with Omaha facing a 70% chance of showers and possible downpours through the evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, much of southeastern Nebraska — including Lincoln, Beatrice, and Omaha — has a 35% to 45% chance of receiving at least a half-inch of rain by early Thursday. Most areas will see less than ½ inch, but isolated thunderstorms could produce heavier bursts. Rain chances taper off slightly into Thursday and Friday, but spotty showers will linger.
Drivers on I-80 and I-29 should be alert for slick conditions, especially during the evening commute. Rainfall may cause brief visibility drops and ponding on roads. While no widespread flooding is expected, the threat of heavier cells could lead to localized water issues.
In Lincoln, expect scattered rain with highs near 64°F, cooling slightly into the low 60s by Friday. Storm chances decrease heading into the weekend, with sunny skies and highs in the low to mid-70s by Saturday.
Showers remain in the forecast through Friday before a dry pattern returns. Additional advisories are possible if storm activity intensifies.
