Hastings, NE – An Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect across portions of central, east-central, and south-central Nebraska until noon Thursday, with wind chills plunging as low as -35°F. A Cold Weather Advisory will follow from 10 p.m. Thursday through 9 a.m. Friday, with temperatures expected to feel like -15 to -25°F.
According to the National Weather Service, frostbite can occur on exposed skin within 10 minutes at these temperatures. Residents are urged to dress in layers, protect outdoor pets, and check on vulnerable individuals. Freezing temperatures could also lead to ruptured water pipes.
