Hastings, NE – Unseasonably warm temperatures will bring highs in the 70s and 80s today and Monday, offering a mild start to the week for the Hastings area. However, this warmth will give way to a cold front expected Tuesday, bringing with it a potential for severe weather and strong winds. Area residents should prepare for gusts of 30 to 40 mph, especially on Tuesday night, when the risk of thunderstorms is highest.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, temperatures today will peak around 73°F, with mostly sunny skies and light winds from the south. Tonight, clouds will increase as temperatures dip to 53°F. Monday remains partly sunny, with highs reaching 79°F, before stronger winds and cooler weather arrive Tuesday. Gusts up to 35 mph are forecasted, along with a 30–60% chance of thunderstorms in the evening.

Tuesday night’s storm system could bring wind gusts of up to 40 mph, with the highest risk south of the Nebraska-Kansas border. Motorists traveling on major routes, like Highway 6, should exercise caution, especially during peak wind hours.

On Wednesday, the cold front will push temperatures down to the 50s and lower 60s, with a 30% chance of showers early in the day. Breezy northwest winds will continue into Wednesday night as temperatures drop to a low of 32°F. By Thursday, cooler but sunny conditions will prevail, with a high of 58°F.
