NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee will shift from mild fall sunshine to a wintry chill early next week as a powerful cold front brings Friday storms followed by freezing temperatures. Highs in the 70s this week will plunge into the 40s and even 20s by Monday morning, marking one of the sharpest cooldowns so far this season.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, today and Thursday will stay dry and mostly sunny, with cool mornings and warm afternoons. A strong front will approach Friday, bringing widespread rain and a few thunderstorms by afternoon and evening. Some storms could briefly turn strong along and west of I-65 before pushing east overnight.
Behind the front, temperatures will drop rapidly through the weekend. Saturday will stay breezy and cooler with scattered showers, then Sunday turns much colder. Lows early Monday may reach the mid-20s, with even colder readings possible along the Cumberland Plateau. A few flurries may develop Sunday night in higher elevations, but no accumulation is expected.
Residents should prepare for the first true taste of winter—protecting pipes, plants, and pets from the coming freeze.
