Authorities have identified the victims involved in an apparent murder-suicide Monday afternoon at an apartment on Glengarry Drive in Nashville. The individuals have been named as Merlin Nataren, 35, and her boyfriend, Jovanni Antonio Machado Portillo, 27.
According to police, Nataren’s family had not heard from her since late Sunday night. Upon visiting Portillo’s apartment, they discovered both victims fatally shot in the bedroom. Nataren was found with multiple gunshot wounds, while Portillo died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A handgun was recovered from under Portillo’s hand.
Detectives have confirmed that there were no previous reports of domestic violence between the couple. The Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
