Nashville, TN – A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Middle Tennessee from early Saturday through Sunday morning, with significant rainfall and potential severe storms expected.
Heavy rain will spread across the region as a strong low-pressure system moves through, bringing 1 to 5 inches of rain. Areas north and west of Nashville are forecast to receive the heaviest rainfall. The National Weather Service warns that already saturated soils could increase the risk of flooding, especially along and west of I-24.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a slight risk of severe thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and evening. These storms could bring damaging winds of up to 60 mph, hail up to one inch in diameter, and isolated tornadoes.
Officials advise residents to avoid flooded roads and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.
Looking ahead, forecasters are monitoring the potential for wintry weather by midweek, with possible snow accumulations and a drop in temperatures. Winter isn’t done yet, and Middle Tennessee residents should stay alert.
Prepare now for heavy rain, stay informed about storm developments, and remain cautious through the weekend.
