Naperville, IL — Local teens in Naperville are being offered the chance to turn their creativity into public art this summer.
According to the City of Naperville, high school students ages 13 to 18 can submit original artwork to be used on six streetlight controller boxes near Naperville North and Naperville Central high schools. Submissions are due by Wednesday, April 30, and selected artists will be notified by Tuesday, May 20. The finished designs will be installed by Monday, June 30.
Submissions must measure 50 inches tall, 30 inches wide, and 16.5 inches deep, covering all four sides of the utility boxes. Artwork must be sent in JPG or PDF format and emailed to City Clerk Dawn Portner at portnerd@naperville.il.us. Each student is allowed one entry, and designs must avoid political or profane content.
There is no cost to participate, and the city will handle printing and installation. Both vector-based designs using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop files are accepted.
The city previously wrapped controller boxes near Neuqua Valley High School and is looking forward to continuing the project. Naperville encourages students to contribute their talent and leave a visual impact on their community.
