Naperville, IL – The Naperville Police Department will hold a “Safety for the College-Bound Student” presentation at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, at the 95th Street Library, 3015 Cedar Glade Dr. The seminar is designed for college freshmen and their parents, focusing on personal safety, drug and alcohol education, and property protection.

According to Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres, the seminar is a crucial opportunity for families preparing for the move to college campuses. “Naperville is a very safe community and because of that our children can develop a false sense of security. This class will help students learn strong crime prevention strategies and make them aware of some of the dangers of campus life and how to safeguard themselves,” Arres said.

The presentation will cover two main areas. The first part will educate students and parents about drugs, alcohol, and the law, discussing the temptations and challenges new college students may face. The second part will focus on personal safety, providing students with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and their property.

Questions about the presentation can be directed to NPD Crime Prevention Specialist Jim Pacetti at (630) 548-2967.
