Naperville, IL – An early morning crash on Saturday left a Lisle woman seriously injured and her dog dead, authorities reported.
According to the Naperville Police Department, the incident occurred at 3:46 a.m. at the intersection of S. Naper Boulevard and Culpepper Drive. Naperville Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene. Officers determined that a 2021 blue Kia Forte had left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver, a 20-year-old woman from Lisle, was trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency responders worked to free her, and she was subsequently transported to a local hospital with significant injuries. A small dog was also found inside the car. Despite efforts to save the animal, it was taken to a local emergency veterinary hospital, where it succumbed to its injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, traffic crash investigators and reconstruction specialists from the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit were called to the scene. The roadway was closed until 8:20 a.m. as authorities conducted their investigation.
