Multiple shootings overnight in Kankakee

KANKAKEE – Multiple shootings took place in Kankakee, resulting in three people being injured at two different locations overnight. 

According to City Police, one male gunshot victim was found at Jag’s Bar in the 400 block of North Schuyler Avenue, where officers responded to shots fired at around 1:27 am. The victim had a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to the hospital by the Kankakee Fire Department. A short time later, officers were informed of a second male gunshot victim, who had transported himself to a local hospital.

Another victim was shot in the 400 block of North Cottage Avenue just after 2:00 am, and a shooting was also reported in the 700 block of North Harrison Avenue before 2:00 am. Investigators suspect that the shootings in the 400 block of North Schuyler and North Harrison were related.

At around 2:30 am, a female victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound at a residence in the 400 block of North Cottage. She was transported to the hospital by the Kankakee Fire Department.

Detectives processed all scenes and are continuing to interview witnesses. At this time, it is unknown if the shooting in the 400 block of North Cottage was related to the earlier shootings. 

Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis urged residents to keep the victims in their thoughts and prayers as they hope for their speedy recovery.
