Mount Carroll, IL – Residents in and around Mt. Carroll are being urged to check home surveillance systems after a string of overnight vehicle burglaries early Sunday, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say the break-ins occurred during the early-morning hours of Sunday, November 16.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, two male suspects allegedly operating a red Chevrolet Blazer were in the area between approximately 12:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Investigators believe the suspects entered several unlocked vehicles throughout Mt. Carroll and removed various items. Authorities also said the pair may have entered multiple residences within the Mt. Carroll city limits.

Deputies report that the majority of incidents happened east of Clay Street, though additional cases were reported between Mt. Carroll and Savanna. The Mt. Carroll Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office are now requesting that residents and business owners review any surveillance, doorbell camera video, or security footage captured during the timeframe.

Detectives are particularly focused on identifying any clips showing the red Chevrolet Blazer or two male subjects on foot, which could provide critical leads for the investigation.

Authorities are reminding residents to lock vehicles and buildings, secure valuables, and report any suspicious activity immediately. They say community participation is essential in solving these cases and preventing additional incidents.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office or Carroll County Crime Stoppers at 815-244-STOP (7867). Tipsters may remain anonymous and could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

This remains an active investigation. No further details have been released.
