Motorcycle Crash Leaves Crown Point Man Dead Friday Night

Lowell, IN – A 31-year-old Crown Point man was killed in a collision involving a motorcycle and a car Friday night in Lowell, Indiana.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of East 181st Avenue and Georgia Street. Deputies were dispatched to the scene where they discovered a Pontiac Grand Prix and a motorcycle had collided.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling eastbound on 181st Avenue while the motorcycle was heading westbound when the two vehicles collided. Authorities say the motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Grand Prix, a 44-year-old man from Cedar Lake, was not injured in the crash but was taken to a hospital for routine testing.

As of Tuesday, the cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr.
